measured XRD and X-ray photoemission spectra at beamline 15 and 12 of the
Saga Light Source on Dec 16 and 17, 2014. |
Dec | 15 | 14 | Takahara-kun (M2), Naragino-kun (D2), Topminaga-san (RA), and Yoshitake (AP) attended Pacific Rim Symposium on Surfaces, Coatings and Interfaces (PacSurf 2014) held at Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel, the Big Island of Hawaii on Dec. 7-11,
2014. We met Dr. Promros at the conference. We had dreamy days there. We
could release daily stresses and charge energies. |
Dec | 06 | 14 | Abdelrahman-san (D1) attended 2014 MRS Fall Meeting (Nov. 30 - December
5, 2014, Boston, Massachusetts) and had oral and poster presentations.
He seems to have learned a lot from discussions with specialists on diamond. |
Oct | 28 | 14 | Hard X-ray photoemission spectroscopic measurements were examined for nanocrystalline
diamond films under the direction of Dr. Ikenaga at the beamline 47XU of
Spring 8 on Oct 25-27, 2014. Together with Prof. Sugiyama, Dr. Kamitani,
and Dr. Hanada of Research Center for Synchrotron Light Applications, Kyushu
University, Takeichi-kun (M1), Katamune-kun (D2), Tominaga-san (RA), and
Yoshitake (AP) joined from our lab. Thanks to the support of Dr. Ikenaga
and Prof. Sigiyama, the measurements could successively be made. |
Oct | 14 | 14 | We are greatly honored that Naragino-kun (D2) was selected as a JSPS Young Research Fellow (DC2)! His daily efforts were rewarded. |
Oct | 13 | 14 | The internship of Harasaki-kun belonging to Department of Materials Science
and Engineering, Kurume national College of Technology started from today.
He experience a research on nanodiamond coating under the direction of
Naragino-kun and Egiza-san for three months. On the other hand, Tarek-san returned from an internship at Sun Edison Company. He seems to learn a lot through works at the company. |
Oct | 15 | 14 | JSPS Japan-France Workshop on Diamond Power Devices (sponsor: NIMS, cosponsors:
Green Asia (GA) Program, Kyushu University and Research and Education Center
for Advanced Energy Materials, Devices, and Systems, Kyushu University)
was held at Nishijin Plaza of Kyushu University, Fukuoka, and Kuju Joint
Training Center, Oita on Octorber 6-10, 2014. We strongly contributed to
the steering of the workshop as a host. The workshop consisted of sophisticated
presentations and we could learn a lot. Particularly, we could gain a valuable
experience in the steering of the workshop. |
Oct | 01 | 14 | Takeichi-kun (M1) was enrolled in the GA Program and Egiza-san entered
G30 master's course today. The page of lab members was updated for the 2nd semester of 2014. |
Aug | 28 | 14 | Today, Dr. Promros, Dalin Prajakkan-san, and Phongsaphak Sittimard-kun
completed the internship and left for Thailand. Iwasaki-kun from Miyakonojo
National College of Technology reported the results of his internship research
and then we opened a farewell tea party in the evening. The laboratory
will become silent temporality. Next month, Katamune-kun (D2) and Ishibashi-kun
(M1) is going to return from internships at NIMS and Mitsubishi Electric.

Aug | 27 | 14 | The 15th IUMRS-ICA (International Union of Materials Research Societies,
International Conference in Asia) was held in Fukuoka University on Aug.
24-28, 2014. DC and foreign students attended and had oral and poster presentations.
To our happiness, Dr. Ohmagari, who graduated from DC last year and works
for AIST at present, received Young Scientist Award Bronze for his oral
presentation on his DC research. He was awarded in the banquet of the conference. |
Aug | 18 | 14 | Iwasaki-kun, who is a student of Miyakonojo National College of Technology,
came to our lab to do his internship for two weeks. He is going to experience
a research on nanodiamond under the direction of Gima-kun (D1) and Abdelrahman-san
(D1). This evening we held a BBQ party in our campus together with Honjo Lab. We could spent a joyful time without facing sudden rain. |
Aug | 12 | 14 | Today, Mr. Izumi, who graduated from MC three years ago, dropped by our
lab on the way to his parent's home from Shiga prefecture. We celebrated
his marriage at first. We were so glad to hear his active daily life in
public and private. He looked so happy to meet Dr. Promros who had progresses
the research on semiconducting iron disilicides together in their students. |
Aug | 03 | 14 | Dr. Promros, who graduated from DC two years ago and at present works for
King Mongkut's Inst. of Tech. Ladkrabang as a lecturer, came to our lab
to do a collaborative research financially supported by JICA, together
with his bachelor students, Ms. Dalin Prajakkan and Mr. Phongsaphak Sittimard.
Simultaneously with their coming, T. Hanada-kun (D1) came back after completing
an internship at UBE Technical Center (Asia) in Thailand for two months.

Jul | 22 | 14 | International conference and summer school on advanced silicide technology
2014 was held at Tokyo University of Science, Katsushika Campus in Tokyo
on July 19-21, 2014. Tarek-san (M1), takahara-kun (M2), Asai-kun (M2),
Sakai-kun (D2), and Yoshitake (AP) attended and had presentations. We learned
a lot and were motivated by other researches. |
Jul | 01 | 14 | Naragino-kun (D2) and Dr. Tominaga (RA) attended an annual meeting of chemistry
and related societies in Kyushu and had poster presentations. To our happiness,
Naragino-kun got an award for young researchers. |
May | 31 | 14 | Today, our department opened a annual softball tournament. Although we
expected that we are eliminated in the preliminary league, we advanced
to a final game. In the final game, we had a seesaw game with Nishida&Fujino
lab and finally we lost in a walk-off. We did our best under the burning
sun. In the evening, we opened a drinking party at a Izakaya near a campus. |
May | 25 | 14 | Japan-France Workshop on Diamond Devices is going to be held in Kuju Joint
Training Center for National Universities in Kyushu Area on 6-10 October,
2014. Kyushu University Kuju Training Center is a candidate for staying.
Together with Prof. Dr. S. Koizumi, who is a chief researcher of senior
of Wide Bandgap Materials Group of NIMS and the main manager of the workshop,
we visited the centers in advance and checked what we should do from this. |
May | 21 | 14 | After weekly meeting, we opened a welcome and farewell party for Dr. Promros.
Dr. Promros got a grant for collaboration with us from JICA. In August,
he is going to come again together with his two students next time. |
May | 19 | 14 | Several members that like beers very much joined a beer festival named
"Belgian Beer Weekend" "held in Fukuoka Tenjin, to give
a welcome to Dr. Promros. We could spend a joyful time drinking amazingly
delicious beers. |
May | 09 | 14 | Mr. Mohri, who graduated from a master's course seven years ago, visited our lab. We could talk about a variety of matters and were very glad to know that he actively and successively works in his company. |
May | 08 | 14 | This Saturday, an open campus is going to be held. We will open a booth

May | 02 | 14 | yesterday, Dr. Promros, who graduated from the doctoral course of our department
two years ago and works for King Mongkut's Inst. of Tech. Ladkrabang as
a lecturer at present, came to our lab to do a collaboration research financially
supported by JICA. He is going to stay until the end of this month. Today,
Mr. Sonoda, who graduated from a master course tow years ago and works
for Nippon Steel Corp. and Sumitomo Metal Indus. at present, dropped by
the laboratory on the way to his parent's home. I was very glad that he
looked so happy and highly motivated to achieve success in his company. |
Apr | 08 | 14 | Today, an entrance ceremony was held, and 7 new students entered our lab.
The numbers of DC, MC, and research students are 3, 3, and 1, respectively.
For the DC students, they came from Aswan University in Egypt and the same
lab (2). The MC students are from Sasebo National College of Technology,
Kumamoto National College of Technology, and Ariake National College of
Technology. The research student came from Kafrelsheikh University in Egypt
and is going to enter the MC this autumn. Both Egyptian students are financially
supported by the scholarship of Egyptian Government. |
Apr | 05 | 14 | Yesterday, we opened a send off & welcome party at Asahi Beer Garden
in Hakata in the evening. We celebrated the job-hunting success of Ms.
Masuda who had worked for our lab as a technical staff until last March.
In addition, we welcomed three new students, Mr. Ishibashi, Mr. Baba, and
Mr. Takeichi, and new technical staff, Ms. Miyakawa. Owing to joining of
Prof. Miyoshi and graduates working in Fukuoka, we could communicate with
different-generation members. |
Mar | 25 | 14 | Today, a conferment ceremony was held. In the evening, we opened a party
to celebrate the graduates, together with Honjo Lab. We appreciated their
much efforts and celebrate their graduations. |
Mar | 14 | 14 | We opened a send off party for Dr. Shaban, who was going to return to Aswan
University this week. Since he is a graduate from our lab and understand
the research of our laboratory, we could effectively progress the research.
We will keep a collaboration research with him from this, and will have
a opportunity to meet again in the near future. |
Mar | 09 | 14 | We went to Usa and Kunisaki areas in Ooita prefecture on March 7-8, 2014
as an annual lab travel. We could enjoy sightseeing owing to fine days.
We stayed at a nice hotel having natural hot spring and could refresh mentally
and physically. |
Feb | 03 | 14 | Mr. Nomoto, who graduated from MC, visited our lab together with his pregnant
wife before his leaving for Australia this month. He was selected as a
scholarship doctoral course student of New South Wells University and is
going to study advanced solar cells. Since Dr. Shaban and Dr. K. Hanada,
who spent the same time in their students, were together today, I remembered
the laboratory atmosphere of several years ago. |
Jan | 14 | 14 | Naragino-kun (D1) and Dr. Tominaga (RA) attended an annual meeting of the
Japanese Society for Synchrotron radiation Research held at Hiroshima Congress
Center on 10-13 Jan 2014. They seem to have had discussions and communications
with excellent researchers belonging to other organizations. |
