Dec	20	18	We opened a dry end-year party at a roast meat restaurant near our campus. Egyptian students also joined and we could talk a lot with each other.
Dec	08	18	Ishimoto-kun (M2) and Takeichi-kun (D3) attended MRS Autumn Meeting held in Boston. Abdelrahman-san (PD) joined from North Carolina University and enjoyed the conference together.
Nov	24	18	Dr. Abdelrahman-san (PD) left for North Carolina to do an internship for three months at Prof. Narayan Laboratory of North Carolina University.

Sep	22	18	Yoshitake and Dr. Sakai of Kurume College of NCT joined JSAP Autumn Meeting held at Nagoya International Congress Center on September 18-21. In addition to having and listening to presentations, we could have a meeting with Dr. Hanashima and Dr. Miyata of Cross Tokai.
Sep	12	18	This evening, we joined Autumn Festa held a park in front of Across Fukuoka, and enjoyed drinking specialized beers.
Aug	7	18	Egiza-san (D2) left for Montréal in Canada to have an internship at Polytechnique Montréal for two months. This internship is financially supported by a grad school internship support program. http://www.polymtl.ca/en
Jul	30	18	For Dr. Promros and nine students who come from Department of Physics, King Mongkut's Inst. of Techn. Ladkrabang, Thailand, we opened a farewell party at Asahi Beer Garden located in Hakata. We could enjoy drinking fresh beers and eating delicious grilled meats.
Jul	27	18	On July 25-27, Tanaka-kun (M1), Hoshino-kun (M1), Ali-kun (M2), Takeichi-kun (D3), and Yoshitake (AP) measured X-ray photoemission spectroscopic and near-edge X-ray ansorption fine-structure measurements at beamline 12 of Saga-LS. Owing to the support of a staff, Dr. Yoshitmura, we could successively complete the measurements.
Jul	22	18	The 18th Summer School on Silicide Semiconductors And Related Materials was held at Shinrin-Kouen in Hamamatsu, Shizauoka Prefecture on July 21-22. Tanaka-kun（M1) and Sakai-kun （M1） joined and had poster presentations on their researches. Yoshitake could not attend because of the MC entrance exam of his department.
Jul	13	18	On July 11-13, Sakai, Takuya-kun (M1), Ishimoto-kun (M2), Yoshitake (AP) did electron lithography experiments for fabricating lateral-type spin valve junctions at Research Institute of Nanodevice and Bio Systems,Hiroshima University. Owing to Tabei-sensei and institute staff members, the experiments were successively completed.
Jul	4	18	Ass. Prof. Promros and 9 third-grade students of Department of Applied Physics, School of Science, King Mongkut's Inst. of Techn. Ladkrabang, Thailand, came to our lab for doing internships for a month (July 2-31). This afternoon, we opened a welcome tea-party and meeting on their research plan. We could promote friendship with each other.
Jun	2	18	Today, our department opened an softball tournament annually. This year, our lab joined together with Nakashima Lab and Fujita Lab. To our happiness, we won the championship!
May	19	18	An annual open campus was held on May 19, 2018. We opened our booth at the third floor of C-Cube, and demonstrated ice cutting with a diamond plate to make visitors realize the highest thermal conductivity of diamond among materials. Dr. Naragino, who graduated from DC and works for Yamaguchi University at present, visited to have brief meeting on experiments, and Dr. Yoshida visited together with families.
May	17	18	The pamphlet of our department was updated for this year.
May	12	18	Next Saturday, an annual open campus is held. Our laboratory is going to have a demonstration on diamond possessing the largest thermal conductivity among materials on the third floor of C-Cube building. We will welcome the visit of new candidate students. We will show our laboratory in details.
May	1	18	4 graduates visited the laboratory together. We could exchange recent own-news. In the evening, we had a dinner at a Japanese style pub in Hakata. We celebrated the engagement of Baba-kun.
Apr	16	18	This evening, we opened a welcome party at Asahi Beer Garden in Hakata, and spent a joyful time having and drinking.
Apr	4	18	Hoshino-kun, Tanaka-kun, and Sakai-kun entered the master course of our department master course from Ariake College, Kurume College, and Kumamot College of National Institute of Technology, respectively. In addition, Lee-kun joined our lab as a B4 student from Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, School of Engineering.
Mar	23	18	This year, we visited Yufuin and Takachiho in a lab travel on March 22-23. The first day, we enjoyed sightseeing in Yufuin and stayed at Kyudai Mountain House in Kuju. The second day, we wend around Takachiho and felt the nature and history of Takachiho.
Mar	20	18	Today, a commencement ceremony was held. Kudo-ku, Nogami-kun, Nishikawa-kun, and Ishizaka-kun got master degrees and Shiota-kun graduated from undergraduate school. After the ceremony, we opened a celebration dinner party for the graduates. To our happiness, Kudo-kun received an award from our department.
Mar	19	18	Yoshitake attended Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP) Spring Meeting held at Waseda University in Tokyo on March 17-20, and had two oral and one poster presentations. At the conference, he met several graduates from our lab. To our happiness, the poster presentation of Dr. Ohmagari, who is one of the graduates and working for AIST at present, was selected as a poster award presentation.
Feb	28	18	Ali-kun (M2) and Eslam-kun (M2) returned from the internship at OSG Co. Ltd (Feb. 6-28, 2018).
Feb	16	18	Today, the B thesis defense of Dept. of Electr. Eng. & Computer Sci., School of Eng. was held at Ito Campus. Shiota-kun had a presentation successfully. In the evening, our department opened a dinner party to appreciate the efforts of M2 and D3 students at a restaurant in Chikushi Campus.
Feb	15	18	On February 14-15, our department had master's thesis defenses. Kudo-kun, Nishikawa-kun, and Nogami-kun had excellent presentations on their researches.
Feb	13	18	The doctor thesis defense of Takanori Hanada-kun was held this afternoon. Since he left a doctor course without getting doctor degree last spring and started to work for Hokkaido University as a researcher, he has prepared his doctor thesis for a year. Today, he gave a great presentation on his doctor thesis research and answered questions.
Feb	5	18	Ali-kun (M2) and Eslam-kun (M2) left for Toyokawa, Aichi Prefecture to do internships at OSG Co. Ltd from February 6 to 28, 2018. The internships are financially supported by OSG Co. Ltd. and GA Program.
Feb	3	18	Lab members who wished to visit Dazaifu Shrine visited there and prayed to make wishes. Ume flowers were not opened because of the coldness of this winter.
Jan	25	18	This afternoon, our department had a seminar in which M1 students had mid-reports on their research in oral presentation (presentation 9 min and discussion 5 min.) in front of professors and students of our department. The main purpose is to enhance presentation skills. From our laboratory, Ishimoto-kun and Uchida-kun had presentations. After that, a guidance on job hunting was officially held. From this, the M1 students that want to enter companies after the master's course become very busy due to job hunting. In the evening, we opened a farewel tea-party at our laboratory for Dr. Promros and his students this evening. Dr. Promros is going to come togetehr with students in July, similarly.
Jan	9	18	We opened new year & welcome party at Asahi Beer Garden in Hakata this evening. We developed friendly relations with each other, enjoying drinking fresh beers and eating delicious grilled meats. From this, we will be very busy due to official department events such as barchelar, master, and doctor theses defences.
Jan	5	18	Dr. promros and his 6 students came from King Mongkut's Inst. of Techn. Ladkrabang, Thailand today. For a month from this, they will do internship researches.
