Oct 02 19 Sreenath Mylo Valappil-san newly added to our laboratory members. He is a JICA Friendship scholarship student from India Institute of Technology and is going to enter the doctor course of our department next April. He will study as a research student for half year until entering the doctor course.
 
Oct 01 19 On Sep 30, Sakai, Takuya-kun (M2), Yoshitake (AP), and Dr. Sakai of Kurume College visited Research Institute of Nanodevice and Bio Systems,Hiroshima University, and did electron lithography experiments. Owing to staffs of the institute, the experiments were successively completed.
Sep 25 19 The conferment ceremony of the year 2019 for September graduation was held today. Egiza-san received a doctorate in philosophy. he is going to work as a post-doctral researcher for a while before returning to his academic position in Egypt (lectuler of Kafrelsheikh University).
 Sep 24 19 Yoshitake joined Japan Society of Applied Physics Autumn Meeting held at Hokkaido University on September 18-21, 2019, and gave oral and poster presentations and worked as a cheirman in a session there. This meeting gives many oppotunities to get new information and communicate with a variety kind of researchers. The nature of Hokkaido Uuniversity is so nice!
 Sep 17 19 Abdelrahman-san (PD) and Egiza-san(D3) joined the 30th International Conference on Diamond and Carbon Materials held in Silvia, Spain on September , 2019, and had oral presentations. They seem to have enjoyed discussing with a variety of researchers there.
 
 Aug 07 19 Shi-san (M1) belonging to Campus Asia Program will return to Shanghai Jiao Tong University from this. Simultaneously, Hamasaki-kun and Morita-kun (M1) will study at Shanghai Jiao Tong University from this until next January.
Aug 02 19 This afternoon, the doctor thesis defence of Egiza-san was held, he gave a great presentation on his doctor thesis research for three years. At present, we are carrying out JST A-STEP Project on nanodiamond hard coating, and it is strongly supported by Egiza-san's efforts.
 Jul 24 19 Tanaka-ku (M2), Takuya Sakai-kun (M2), and Yoshitake (AP) joined the 5th Asia-Pacific Conference on Semiconducting Silicides and Related Materials, 2019 (APAC-Silicide 2019) held at Seagaia Convention Center, Miyazaki, Japan on July 20-23, 2019. Dr. Sakai of Kurume College, who is a coworker in our spintronics research, also joined. In addition to the conference, we could enjoy an excursion to Udo Shrine and Aoshima Island.
Jul 12 19 Today, we measured X-ray photoemission and near-edge X-ray absorption fine-structure spectra for nanodiamond films at beamline 12 of Kyushu Synchrotron Light Reaserch Center/Saga Light Source. They are kindly supported by Dr. Kobayashi of Saga-LS staff.
 
Jul 08 19 This evening, we opened a farewell party for Nicolas-san and welcome party for Promros-san at our laboratory. During the internship of Nicolas-san for three months, we could enjoy not only a research but also sports and drinking together. We are waiting for his coming again!

Jun 07 19 Temsawat, Pattanakul-kun, Inthasorn, Chawisa-san, Sookprasert, Thitiya-san (from left side in order) came to our lab from Dept. of Appl. Phys., King Mongkut's Inst. of Techn. Ladkrabang, Thailand. They have internships until July 31, 2019.
Jun 01 19 Today, our department opened an softball tournament annually. This year also, our lab joined together with Nakashima Lab and Fujita Lab. We were beaten by Nishida-Itakura Lab in the final, and resultantly we were a vice-champion.
May 24 19 This evening, lab members that like drinking joined a sparkling wine event at Tenjin, and they enjoyed drinking and talking under a lively atmosphere there. This became a good welcome party for Nicolas-san.

 May 19 19 Ali-san (D1) and Egiza-san (D3) attended 13th New Diamond and Nano Carbons Conference held in Taiwan on May 12-17, 2009, and had oral and poster presentations there. They seem to have had valuable discussions. In addition, they were together with our lab graduates, Dr. Ohmagari of AIST and Dr. Katamune of Kyushu Institute of Technology.


May 18 19 Today the open campus was held, and many visitors, particularly families with children, came, owing to a collaboration with Ohnojo city. Our booth on diamond was always occupied by child visitors until the end of the open campus (5PM).
May 15 19 This Saturday (May 18), Chikushi campus is open for public. Our lab is going to open a booth on diamond at Room 310 of C-Cube building. We are willing to show our lab including experimental apparatuses for candidate students.


The pamphlet of our department in Japanese was updated for the 2019.
May 02 19 Our lab opened an almuni party near Hakata station during GW, precisely in the evening on May 2. Graduates from 20 years ago to recent years joined, and the party became a good opptunity to form fridenly relationships among different generations.

Apr 12 19 Nicolas-san (M1) came from Grenoble Alps University, France, to do an internship research on nanodiamond. The period is from April 12 to July 10, 2019. At present, Eslam-san (D1) is doing an internship at Néel Institut, France, under Prof. Julian PERNOT of Grenoble Alps University/Néel Institut.

Apr 08 19 This evening, our lab opened a welcome party for new students at Asahi Beer Garden located in Hakata. We spent a joyful time having and drinking. We wish to be challenging this year because we initiate researches and setup apparatuses newly this year.
Apr 06 19 This year, 6 students newly came to our lab. Concretely, Isono-kun (B4) is a B4 student of Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, School of Engineering. As new master course students, Hamasaki-kun and Morita-kun came from Kumamoto College, National Institute of Technology, and Ohue-kun came from Department of electronics, Yamaguchi University. In addition, as a Campus Asia (CA) Program student, Shi-san came from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. She will study for a half year. To enter the doctoral course of our department from this October, Sittimart-san came from King Mongkut's Inst. of Techn. Ladkrabang, Thailand, and study as a research student for a half year. He is a scholarship student of JICA Seed-Net PhD Japan Program.
Mar 20 19 The conferment ceremony of the year 2018 was held. Takeichi-kun received a doctorate in engineering, and Ishimoto-kun and Uchida-kun received master's degree.in engineering,. Lee-kun graduated from the undergraduate school of engineering. To our happiness, Ishimoto-kun received ASEM Award from our department. After the ceremony, we opened a celebration dinner party for the graduates, together with Honjo-Sakaguchi Lab and Hata Lab.
 
Mar 15 19 On March 13-15, X-ray photoemission spectroscopic measurements were made for ultrananocrystalline diamond films at the beamline 12 of Kyushu Synchrotron Light Research Center/Saga Light Source. Tanaka-kun (M1), Hoshino-kun (M1), Ali-san (D1), Egiza-san (D3), Takeichi-kun (D3), and Yoshitake joined. We could measure as planed, owing to a support of Dr. Kobayashi of the line staff.
 Mar 08 19 Prof. Honjo of the same group gave the very last lecture at Chikushi Hall this afternoon. Then, a celebration party was held at the third floor of C-Cube. From our laboratory also, emeritus prof. Miyoshi and graduates got together and celebrated his retirement.
Mar 06 19 We made a day-trip to Miyajima, Hiroshima Prefecture on Mar 6. Since we used bullet trains for transport, we had sufficient time for staying in Miyajima. We could enjoy sightseeing, drinking, eating, and shopping together!
Mar 01 19 To our happiness, Ali-san (D1) received an presentation award from JSAP Kyushu Chapter for his oral presentation entitled "Pulsed-Bias Effects on Mechanical Properties of Ultrananocrystalline Diamond Films Deposited on Cemented Carbide Substrates by Coaxial Arc Plasma" at the annual conference held last December. His daily efforts were rewarded.
 
Feb 27 19 Dr. Abdelrahman (PD) returned from North Carolina State University. He worked as a visiting scientist at Prof. Narayan's group in Department of Material science and Engineering, North Carolina State University for three months. He seems to have learned a lot concerning the way of progessing researches in US and Q-carbon. We deeply appreciate the acceptance with much kindness of Prof. Narayan and lab members.
Feb 05 19 The doctor thesis defense of Takeichi-kun (D3) was held this morning. He gave a great presentation on his research for five years as a Green Asia Program student. He is going to work for OSG Corp. Ltd as a researcher from April.
Feb 01 19 Yoshitake attended Nano Tech 2019 held at Big Sight on Jan 30-Feb and introduced our research on nanodiamond coating at Kyushu Synchrotron Research Center/Saga-LS booth. He could know needs of companies concerning our researches. He appreciated the kind cooperation of Kyushu Synchrotron Research Center/Saga-LS members.
Jan 25 19 We opened a new year party at Asahi Beer Garden in Hakata this evening. We could enjoy drinking fresh beers and eating delicious grilled meats, together with internship students and Dr. Promors from KMIT. From this, we will do our best in the bachelor, master, and doctor theses defenses.
Jan 10 19 Dr. Hanashima had an opportunity to drop by Fukuoka, so we had a meeting on an collaboration research from this. We could have fruitful discussions having fresh raw fishes and butterflies at a Japanese food restaurant located near Hakata Station. Dr. Sakai of Kurume College, NIT also joined.
