12 23 20 For three days from Dec 21 to 23, we measured X-ray photoemission and NEXAFS spectroscopic measurements at beamline 12 of Saga-LS. Ali-san (D3), Eslam-san (D3), Sreenath-san (D1), Ohue-kun (M2), Iwao-kun (M1), and Yoshitake (P) joined. The measurements was completed as planed owing to supports of Dr. Kobayashi of a Saga-LS staff.

11 11 20 Lama-san came to Japan about a month late. From now on, she will do a research on the medical application of nanodiamond coatings.
10 14 20 Nagano-kun, who is a student of Ariake Kossen, conducted an internship in our laboratory for two weeks from October 1 to 14. He conducted experiments and brief evaluations on nanodiamond thin films with graduate students, and had a report on the internship online on the final day.

10 01 20 Lama-san, who is a assitant lectuler of Department of Physics, Aswan University, has entered a doctor course. Yichen-kun has entered a master course from Xiangtan University in China. They have not yet arrived at Japan due to COVID19 and is waiting for their entry permits. They will be taking a lecture online for a while.
Zhao-san, who is a master course student of Shanghai Jiao Tong Univ and belongs to Campus Asia Program, was going to come from this month, but is waiting for her entry permit.
4 4 10 Six new members have joined. Introducing from the left side of the photo, Nii-kun and Saito-kun are B4 students of B4 student of Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, School of Engineering, KU. Aramaki-kun, Nakahara-kun, and Iwao-kun entered a master course from Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, School of Engineering, KU. In addition, Sreenath-san, who was a research student from India Inst. of Techn., Hyderabad, entered a doctor course. Sreenath-san is a JICA Friendship scholarship student. Today, an orientation for new students was held on a small scale due to the influence of COVID-19.

4 10 20 This year, 6 students newly entered our lab. Saito-kun and Nii-kun (B4) are B4 students of Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, School of Engineering. From the same department, Iwao-kun, Nakahara-kun, and Aramaki-kun entered the master course of our department. Sreenath-san, who came from India Institute of Technology last October and has studied as a research student for half a year, entered our doctor course. he is a JICA Friendship scholarship student. Today, our department opened an orientation for new students, simply due to COVID-19.
3 23 20 It was a conferment ceremony day of the year 2019, today. Tanaka-kun, Sakai-kun, and Hoshino-kun received master's degree.in engineering, and Isono-kun graduated from the undergraduate school of engineering. To suppress the spread of new-type Corona virus, the conferment ceremony was made at each laboratory, and we hesitated to have a cerebration party this year. We gave up an annual lab-travel also this year. We will have an instead opportunity to get together after the Corona virus crisis disappears.

2 19 20 In addition to measurements on Feb 12-14, we did spectroscopic measurements at BL 12 of Saga-LS on Feb 18-19. Since the measurements last week overlapped with the master thesis defenses, Egiza-san (PD), Ali-san (D2), and Ohue-kun (M1) joined the measurements. This time, Ali-san (D2), Eslam-san (D2), Tanaka-kun (M2), Ohue-kun (M1), and Yoshitake (AP) joined. For Tanaka-kun, this was the last measurements.
2 14 20 Today, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, School of Engineering held bachelor thesis defenses in Ito campus. Isono-kun (B4) successively had a great presentation on his research.
In the evening, our department opened a thank-you party at Zonne restaurant in Chikushi campus.
2 13 20 On Feb 12-13, our department had master thesis defences/DC entrance examination. Sreenath-san (Res Stud) applied the entrance examination and S. Takuya-kun, Tanaka-kun, and Hoshino-kun (M2) successively completed the defences.
2 05 20 Yoshitake had a meeting on a national project on the application of diamond to radiation detectors with Dr. Umezawa and Dr. Ohmagari of AIST Kansai at Hakata Office of Kyushu University this afternoon. Then we could have deep discussions continuously at a raw fish restaurant (Yachiyomaru) near Halata Station.
1 31 20 Yoshitake joined Nano Tech 2020 held at Tokyo Bigsite on Jan 29-31 and introduced our research on nanodiamond and its applications at the booth of Kyushu Light Research Center. .
1 24 20 We opened a welcome party for internship students/lab new-year party at Hakata Beer Garden. We could have a joyful time having fresh beer.
1 22 20 This afternoon, our department opened annual M1 mid-reports. Ohue-kun had a presentation on his master thesis research.
1 20 20 This afternoon, we opened a meeting with Prof. Mito of Kyushu Institute of Technology, Dr. Hanashima of Cross Tokai, and Dr. Sakai of Kurume College at Hakata Office of Kyushu University, and then we continuously had deep discussions having delicious raw fishes and drinking at Japanese restaurant near Hakata Station.
