Sep 11 23 On September 4-8, Reseach Associate Professor Abdelrahman and Yoshitake visited Taiwan: on September 5-6, they visited National Taiwan University; on September 7, they attended the MOU signing ceremony between the Taiwan Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kyushu University, and National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University in Taiwan; and on September 8, they visited Feng-Chia University, where Professor Tsay came to Kyushu University as a visiting professor six months ago.

During the visit to National Taiwan University on the 5th, we introduced each other's research and toured laboratories. We will conduct joint research from now on. We would like to thank Prof. Lin for arranging the entire two-day visit.

In the evening, we toured the Memorial Hall (former library) on campus, stopped by Taipei 101, and had dinner together. Walking around the campus, it was like being in the old Hakozaki campus of Kyushu University. It has been renovated while retaining the atmosphere of the old days.

On the morning of the 6th, Prof. Lin showed us around Guojia Music Hall near the university. After visiting National Taiwan University, we were able to pay a courtesy visit to Professor Jiang and the Dean of the College of Engineering. In the evening, we were guided by a coule of doctoral students to the National Palace Museum.

On the 7th, I attended the MOU signing ceremony between the Taiwan Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kyushu University, and National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University in Taiwan as a member from Kyushu University.

On the 8th, we visited Feng Chia University, where Professor Tsay had come to Kyushu University as a visiting professor half a year ago, to see the laboratory of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and to have a meeting about future joint research.
Aug 22 23 We gave laboratory tours and introductions to students and faculty members from Feng-Chia University in Taiwan, who are visiting Chikushi Campus for a week.
Aug 21 23 Lab tours and introductions were given to high school and university students at i-GIP Kyushu.

Jun 25 23 Associate Professor Abdelrahman and Professor Yoshitake visited Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (EJUST) from June 11 to 23. Our grad school has been providing operational support to Department of Chemistry and Petrochemistry (CPE) at EJUST since 2020 with the support of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Although I was unable to visit the project due to the Corona disaster, they were finally able to visit this year as the project coordinator. e

↓EJUST campus: EJUST campus is located in the middle of Borg Arab, a new city that Egypt is building. The city is being built from absolutely nothing in a wilderness near the desert.

↓Laboratory tours, student research presentations, and doctoral dissertation hearings during a visit to EJUST: Many Japanese-made experimental apparatuses were installed. The building is new, and it is expected that delivery of equipment that has been delayed due to the coronal disaster will proceed in the future. New buildings were being constructed one after another as a result of the establishment of new faculties.

↓Dinner with EJUST members: We were able to deepen our friendship over dinner with various people from EJUST. We were able to meet Mr. Rabie (currently Assistant Professor of Mansoura University, Egypt), who was on an internship in our laboratory from June to the end of September last year from EJUST.

↓EJUST dormitories, staff housing, and hotels for visitors: EJUST expects to receive students not only from all over Egypt, but also from other African countries, and has a large accommodation facility. The building is new, clean, and better than the hotel I stayed in Alexandria.

↓A weekend spent in nearby Alexandria: Alexandria, Egypt's second largest city, is about an hour's drive from Borg Arab, where EJUST is located. The view of the Mediterranean Sea from Egypt was exceptional. We visited the Alexandria Library, which is adjacent to Alexandria University, and the citadel of Kite Bay. The Alexandria Library serves as the national library of Egypt, and it seems that doctoral dissertations of Egyptian universities are collected in this library.

May 27 23 We had a successful Open Campus with a record attendance of over 5,000 people. We had so many visitors that there was no time to rest at all, even though we had an event where visitors could experience the highest thermal conductivity of diamond.

May 23 23 The 2023 Open Campus will be held tomorrow. Our laboratory will be located on the first floor of Building D (shown below) of the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Laboratory tours are always available on the 4th floor of Building D.
