Apr	03	24	The entrance ceremony was held today. Five students have enrolled in the postgraduate master's course. From left to right in the photo below, they are Shunsuke Hokazono, Junya Shiraga, Akinao Watanabe, Yamato Ikiyama, and Itsuki Misono. They comes from Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, School of Engineering, Kyushu University; Course in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Ehime University; Course in Electronic Information Systems Engineering, Matsue College, National Institure of Technology; Course in Production Information Systems Engineering, Ariake College, National Institute of Technology; Course in Materials Engineering, Kurume College, National Institure of Technology. Yuto Ikegami-kun from the Department of Interdisciplinary Engineering, School of Engineering, who is a first-year student this year, has been assigned as a B4 student.
Mar	25	24	The degree conferment ceremony took place today. Three students completed their master's degree and one completed his undergraduate degree. After the degree ceremony for the majors, we moved to Restaurant Kirin Beer Farm in Asakura for a celebration party. The students were congratulated on their graduation and thanked for their past efforts.
Mar	12	25	I went on a trip to Kuju and Takachiho for two days and one night from 11 to 12 March. For the first time in a long time, we stayed at the Kyshu University Mountain House in Kuju and enjoyed Komatsu Jigoku and natural hot springs. On the second day, we moved to Takachiho and went sightseeing in the mythical places.
Mar	2	24	On March 2, graduates and current students celebrated the professor promotion of Yoshitake. It was a real pleasure to hear from graduates who are active in society. Part I: Commemorative lecture (JR Hakata City Conference Room 10F): Four graduates and Yoshitake gave presentations. We were energised by the talks of the graduates' success in the workplace, marriage, building their own homes, and their happiness. Part 2: Celebration party (Yachiyomaru Hakata Ekimae restaurant): at the party, we were able to talk with many graduates after a long time while eating delicious live fish and squid and drinking. It was a really nostalgic time.
Feb	29	24	Dr. Lama retired as a postdoctral researcher of Department of Advanced Energy Science and Engineering, Faculty of Engineering Sciences, KU.
			With the support of JST's Sakura Science Program, a total of 10 students and faculty members from Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (EJUST), Aswan University, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Mara and Qatar University were invited for a week from 3 to 9 February 2024. Our laboratory was the host and Associate Professor Abdulrahman conducted the practical work. After an initial general briefing, we showed Dazaifu. Lectures and laboratory tours were organised by several laboratories. On Monday, Feb 5, our laboratory was in charge, with a lecture by Prof. Yoshitake and a laboratory tour. On Feb 8, a debriefing meeting was held together.
Feb	01	24	Dr. Abdelrahman, an appointed associate professor of EJUST Center, KU, retired from the Center yesterday, and today he assumeｄ an associate professor of Department of Internationalization and Future Conception, Faculty of Science and Engineering, KU.
Jan	27	24	We moved from Aswan to EJUST in Borg EL Arab and visited EJUST and Alexandria University on January 21-26. Assistant Professor Narakino came from Japan to join us. At EJUST, we listened to and discussed presentations on the progress of the students with whom we are collaborating. At Alexandria University, we visited the Smart Critical Infrastructure Research Center to introduce each other's research and explore possibilities for future collaboration.
Jan	20	24	カタールのドーハ空港からエジプトに移動して、１月２０～２２日、 アブドラハマン准教授のふるさとであるアスワンに滞在しました。アスワン大学を訪問し、本学の博士後期課程修了者であるモハメド アラベ副学長に表見訪問できました。また、本学出身の教員の方々と会合を行い、今後の連携の可能性を議論できました。１０月から本研究室へ博士後期課程学生として入学予定のオラビー助手に会うことができました。From Doha Airport in Qatar, we move to Egypt and stayed in Aswan, the hometown of Associate Professor Abdelrahman, from January 20 to 22. During the visit to Aswan University, we could have a meeting with Vice President Mohamed Arabe, a graduate of KU doctoral program. We also had a chance to meet Dr. Oraby, an assistant professor who will join our laboratory as a doctoral student in October. Yoshitake spent the weekend touring around nearby Luxor and Aswan. In Luxor, we visited the Valley of the Kings and several temples. The murals inside the Japanese tombs were gorgeous. The Aswan High Dam, located just south of Aswan, was spectacular. There were large cruise ships passing by the dam, and the scale was such that it could be mistaken for an inland sea rather than a dam. In Aswan, we can see many megaliths. It is famous for producing high-quality granite, and we were able to see a huge quarried obelisk at the site of a stone quarry. The construction of the Aswan High Dam forced the Nubian people to leave the area where they lived. I visited the Nubian Museum, which is dedicated to the Nubian culture for posterity, and to my surprise, the exhibits were very similar to those of the ancient cultures of Japan. We attended a night show at the Temple of Isis on Philae Island in Aswan Roudam. We were able to learn about some aspects of Egyptian mythology.
			From Friday, January 12 to January 18, Dr. Abdelrahman and Yoshitake stayed at the Qatar University Visiting Researchers' Accommodation. As aoon as we arrived, Dr. Yasser Hassan, assistant professor of chemistry, College of Arts and Sciences, invited us to his house and entertained us to dinner. From the next day, we visited the Faculty of Engineering of Qatar University, where we are conducting joint research. For the first time, we were able to have a face-to-face research meeting. They visited the Smart Materials Laboratory and the Gas Center. The Asian Cup match between Vietnam and Japan was held over the weekend, and we were able to watch it. Yoshitake was interviewed by a local TV station. What a surprise, it was televised locally. We were given an opportunity to introduce our graduate school and our laboratory and research. As an on-campus seminar, Dr. Abdelrahman and Yoshitake gave presentations. We also had the opportunity to meet with Vice President Prof. Mariam. We were able to introduce each university and exchange various opinions on international exchange. On the last day also, we were treated to dinner at an outdoor restaurant in Katari. We were able to deepen our friendship through various discussions.
