Oct	25	24	On September 25th, we attended the 15th Semiconductor Materials and Devices Forum, held at the Fukuoka International Congress Center. Mr. Misono (M1), Mr. Watanabe (M1), Mr. Ikiyama (M1), and Mr. Hokazono (M1) gave presentations. Mr. Misono was awarded the Research Presentation Encouragement Prize (the highest award).
Oct	1	24	We have three new students. Mr. Mahmoud from Qatar University has joined the Master's course, and Mr. Oraby from Aswan University and Ms. Heba from Zagazig University have joined the Doctoral course. from left side, Mr. Mahmoud, Mr. Oraby, and Ms. Heba
Sep	28	24	We went to the Kyushu National Museum in Dazaifu City, which is relatively close to the campus. Almost members had never been there before, thus this was a good oppotunity.
Sep	27	24	Mr. Kawakami, a fourth-year student at Kagoshima College, national Institute of Technology, spent five days from September 24th to 28th doing an internship at our laboratory. He experienced experiments with Q-dia coatings with D2 Mr. Diab. This evening, we held a debriefing session. He introduced not only the content of the internship, but also his Robocon activities and hobbies in Kagoshima College. Three international students are scheduled to enroll from October. Mr. Oraby and Ms. Heba have already arrived in Japan. We held a tea party to send off Mr. Kawakami and welcome the new students.
Sep	19	24	Prof. Yoshitake is in charge of the high school outreach lectures, which are part of the activities of the Faculty of Engineering, again this year. He visited Yamaguchi High School to give lectures to first- and second-year students in the science and mathematics departments. He hopes that this will be an opportunity for high school students with bright futures to learn a little more about university life.
Sep	6	24	Mr. Yonekura, a fourth-year student at Sasebo College, National Institute of Technology, did a five-day internship from September 2 to 6. He experienced conductive diamond (Q-dia) coating experiments on diamond powder under the supervision of Watanabe-kun (M1). On the evening of Friday the 6th, the last day, we held a debriefing session, followed by a tea party.
Sep	3	24	Mr. Mohammad Mostafa Abdulfatah Alashmawi, a third-year doctoral student at EJUST who completed a six-month internship at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, visited our laboratory before returning to EJUST. We were able to listen to his presentation on his research and exchange various opinions with him.
Aug	30	24	Assoc. Prof. Abdelrahman and Prof. Yoshitake visited Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (EJUST) under the auspices of JICA. They have been providing administrative support to the Graduate School of Chemistry and Petrochemistry (CPE), and They continued our joint research discussions and observed the progress of the program. Prof. Yoshitake was staying at the EJUST hotel at the university, and on my last day I stayed overnight at a hotel on the North Coast near EJUST. The Mediterranean Sea bordering Alexandria was as clear and beautiful as the ocean in Okinawa.
Jul	9	24	Mr. Mohammad Alfantech, Mr. Osama abdulmajid Mohammed Maaodhah, and Mr. Omar Mohammed Y H Al-Hammadi, fourth-year students in the Department of Chemistry and Geosciences at Qatar University, were accepted as short-term visiting students from June 25 to July 9. We gave them a detailed introduction of our laboratory's research, including a tour of the laboratory.
June	*	*	Our laboratory hosts the Kyushu Area Student Chapter of the Japan Society of Applied Physics. In cooperation with the Kyushu Area Young Chapters, we held a workshop as follows. Most of the members from our laboratory participated nd enjoyed the worksho.
May	29	24	The BBQ party of our lab was held from 6:00 pm in the evening at the campus courtyard. Blessed with perfect early summer weather, we enjoyed a hybrid BBQ of halal foods and regular meats.
May	18	24	The Open Campus for the 2024 academic year was held on Saturday, May 18, 2024. We exhibited our booth on diamond thermal conduction on the first floor of D building. Many families came to our booth. To our surprise, Mr. Mouri, a 2006 graduate, and Mr. Yoshida, a 2010 graduate, visited with their children. We were able to talk a lot about their recent situation. We were also cheered up by their happiness.
May	17	24	This afternoon, Dr. Hanashima, a researcher at Cross Tokai, visited our lab for a meeting to discuss future research. After the meeting at the laboratory, we moved to Hakata and held a get-together at Yachiyomaru Hakata Ekimae restaurant with the participation of Associate Professor Dr. Sakai (Kurume College) and Lecturer Dr. Takeichi (Sasebo College), who are related to Dr. Hanashima and graduates of this laboratory. We were able to discuss various topics over delicious live fish and sake.
Apr	16	24	We held an alcohol-free welcome party including foreign members at a steak restaurant near our campus. The new school year has begun!
Apr	03	24	The entrance ceremony was held today. Five students have enrolled in the postgraduate master's course. From left to right in the photo below, they are Mr. Shunsuke Hokazono, Mr. Junya Shiraga, Mr. Akinao Watanabe, Mr. Yamato Ikiyama, and Mr. Itsuki Misono. They comes from Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, School of Engineering, Kyushu University; Course in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Ehime University; Course in Electronic Information Systems Engineering, Matsue College, National Institure of Technology; Course in Production Information Systems Engineering, Ariake College, National Institute of Technology; Course in Materials Engineering, Kurume College, National Institure of Technology. Mr. Yuto Ikegami from the Department of Interdisciplinary Engineering, School of Engineering, who is a first-year student this year, has been assigned as a B4 student.
Mar	25	24	The degree conferment ceremony took place today. Three students completed their master's degree and one completed his undergraduate degree. After the degree ceremony for the majors, we moved to Restaurant Kirin Beer Farm in Asakura for a celebration party. The students were congratulated on their graduation and thanked for their past efforts.
Mar	12	25	We went on a trip to Kuju and Takachiho for two days and one night from 11 to 12 March. For the first time in a long time, we stayed at the Kyshu University Mountain House in Kuju and enjoyed Komatsu Jigoku and natural hot springs. On the second day, we moved to Takachiho and went sightseeing in the mythical places.
Mar	2	24	On March 2, graduates and current students celebrated the professor promotion of Yoshitake. It was a real pleasure to hear from graduates who are active in society. Part I: Commemorative lecture (JR Hakata City Conference Room 10F): Four graduates and Yoshitake gave presentations. We were energised by the talks of the graduates' success in the workplace, marriage, building their own homes, and their happiness. Part 2: Celebration party (Yachiyomaru Hakata Ekimae restaurant): at the party, we were able to talk with many graduates after a long time while eating delicious live fish and squid and drinking. It was a really nostalgic time.
Feb	29	24	Dr. Lama retired as a postdoctral researcher of Department of Advanced Energy Science and Engineering, Faculty of Engineering Sciences, KU.
			With the support of JST's Sakura Science Program, a total of 10 students and faculty members from Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (EJUST), Aswan University, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Mara and Qatar University were invited for a week from 3 to 9 February 2024. Our laboratory was the host and Associate Professor Abdulrahman conducted the practical work. After an initial general briefing, we showed Dazaifu. Lectures and laboratory tours were organised by several laboratories. On Monday, Feb 5, our laboratory was in charge, with a lecture by Prof. Yoshitake and a laboratory tour. On Feb 8, a debriefing meeting was held together.
Feb	01	24	Dr. Abdelrahman, an appointed associate professor of EJUST Center, KU, retired from the Center yesterday, and today he assumeｄ an associate professor of Department of Internationalization and Future Conception, Faculty of Science and Engineering, KU.
Jan	27	24	Dr. Abdelrahman and Prof. Yoshitake moved from Aswan to EJUST in Borg EL Arab and visited EJUST and Alexandria University on January 21-26. Assistant Professor Narakino came from Japan to join us. At EJUST, we listened to and discussed presentations on the progress of the students with whom they are collaborating. At Alexandria University, we visited the Smart Critical Infrastructure Research Center to introduce each other's research and explore possibilities for future collaboration.
Jan	20	24	From Doha Airport in Qatar, Dr. Abdelrahman and Prof. Yoshitake moved to Egypt and stayed in Aswan, the hometown of Associate Professor Abdelrahman, from January 20 to 22. During the visit to Aswan University, they could have a meeting with Vice President Mohamed Arabe, a graduate of KU doctoral program. They also had a chance to meet Dr. Oraby, an assistant professor who will join our laboratory as a doctoral student in October. Prof. Yoshitake spent the weekend touring around nearby Luxor and Aswan. In Luxor, we visited the Valley of the Kings and several temples. The murals inside the Japanese tombs were gorgeous. The Aswan High Dam, located just south of Aswan, was spectacular. There were large cruise ships passing by the dam, and the scale was such that it could be mistaken for an inland sea rather than a dam. In Aswan, he can see many megaliths. It is famous for producing high-quality granite, and we were able to see a huge quarried obelisk at the site of a stone quarry. The construction of the Aswan High Dam forced the Nubian people to leave the area where they lived. Prof. Yoshitake visited the Nubian Museum, which is dedicated to the Nubian culture for posterity, and to my surprise, the exhibits were very similar to those of the ancient cultures of Japan. Prof. Yoshitake attended a night show at the Temple of Isis on Philae Island in Aswan Roudam. They were able to learn about some aspects of Egyptian mythology.
			From Friday, January 12 to January 18, Dr. Abdelrahman and Prof. Yoshitake stayed at the Qatar University Visiting Researchers' Accommodation. As aoon as we arrived, Dr. Yasser Hassan, Assistant Professor of chemistry, College of Arts and Sciences, invited us to his house and entertained us to dinner. From the next day, we visited the Faculty of Engineering of Qatar University, where we are conducting joint research. For the first time, we were able to have a face-to-face research meeting. They visited the Smart Materials Laboratory and the Gas Center. The Asian Cup match between Vietnam and Japan was held over the weekend, and Dr. Abdelrahman and prof. Yoshitake were able to watch it. Prof. Yoshitake was interviewed by a local TV station. What a surprise, it was televised locally. Dr. Abdelrahman and Prof. Yoshitake were given an opportunity to introduce our graduate school and our laboratory and research. As an on-campus seminar, Dr. Abdelrahman and Prof. Yoshitake gave presentations. They also had the opportunity to meet with Vice President Prof. Mariam. They were able to introduce each university and exchange various opinions on international exchange. On the last day also, they were treated to dinner at an outdoor restaurant in Katari. We were able to deepen our friendship through various discussions.
